My Stats: Who Am I?

My name is Anastasia, better known as Ana and I am a third year public relations student at the University of Oregon. I picked journalism while I was still in high school, due to my love of writing. My interest in public relations came later. After a failed experience in a news room and an ever-present desire to be able to support myself, I looked into public relations. It seemed like the perfect choice for me- public relations is writing intensive, communication intensive, and is so varied, I don’t think I could ever get bored.

I work part time for my mom’s company Good Clean Love, a local company that produces all-natural love products. Through this experience, I have learned a lot about how to navigate the burgeoning waterways of social media, how to sell a product I believe in, and how to adapt to the ever-changing field of public relations. I enjoy school and my job very much, however, that is only a fraction of who I am.

My interest in sports PR came recently, when I realized that although I grew up riding equestrian (which, some argue is not a sport), I had three younger siblings who played everything under the sun- basketball, soccer, tennis, swimming, running… Although I am currently increasing my sports literacy, I know sports and sports will always be a part of my life.

This is perhaps why I have decided to turn this blog (which was originally a class assignment) into one entirely devoted to my dream career- crisis management for athletes. Because here’s the deal, bad things happen to good people and we must be able to pick ourselves and get back up stronger than ever.

I will not pretend that I know exactly what to do in every situation, for I am in the learning process as much as you are. But here I am, giving it my best shot. You ready? Let’s do it.
